The Virginia-born drummer Nate Smith literally has his hands in jazz and pop music, through his work with bassist Dave Holland, saxophonist Chris Potter, vocalists Jose James and Brittany Howard, and the legendary Paul Simon. He’s released five recordings as a leader, including his 2017 breakout CD, Kinfolk: Postcards from Everywhere. When you see the two-time Grammy nominee live, he’ll be performing music from his new recording, Kinfolk 2, and your head will be rocking with whatever groove he lays down.
